Executive Director Michael Doud began his career in 1977 with the Village of Elm Grove Police Department as a Law Enforcement Explorer Scout. He worked as a dispatcher for eight years in Elm Grove, and in 1986 he was hired by Waukesha County Park Police until he was hired by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office in 1991, where he served until his retirement in 2013.
Mike also worked as a K-9 handler, field training officer, served on the local union board for 19 years, while also serving nine years on the WPPA Board of Directors.
In 1998, Mike was injured in the line of duty when he was struck by a vehicle on I-94. He underwent multiple surgeries and returned to full duty after 39 months of recovery and rehabilitation. During this time, he met with Governor Jim Doyle in regards to implementing Wisconsin’s Move Over Law.
Mike has received numerous awards throughout his 35+ years in law enforcement, including the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Officer Award for Valor, the WPPA Meritorious Service Award for his role in the Azana Salon shooting in 2012, and in 2014 was presented by the WPPA with the Susan J. Armagost Lifetime Achievement Award.
